Episode #43 with Aura Lee MacPherson

Aura Lee MacPherson has based her working and volunteer career on three words- intention, attention, and action. Aura Lee began her pre-professional journey by obtaining her Bachelors of Science in Nursing, and has over thirty year of experience in the field. Her work experience also includes office manager, project manager, and co-founder of MacPherson Engineering. Aura Lee began the company in 1996 with her husband, which has now grown to over seventeen employees.

Aura Lee’s is the chair of the Calling Lakes Ecomuseum (CLEM). CLEM is a grass roots arm of the United Nations, and the group aims to protect the waters in the Qu’Appelle River system by using social media, acting as a watchdog for the waters, and attending festivals to build relationships. She is also the chair of the Calling for a Sustainable Quill Lakes Solution (SAWS).  SAWS was formed to address the numerous threats the Qu’Appelle River faces. In addition, Aura Lee is a member at large for the United Nations Saskatchewan Regional Center on Education for Sustainable Development and a co-chair of the Business Leaders Impacting Saskatchewan Sustainability.

Aura Lee has received a variety of awards, including the 2021 APEGS Exception Engineering Award for the “Blanket of Warmth” Project, and the 2021 Canadian Green Building Technical Award.

Above all, Aura Lee infuses the importance of education and community confidence into each project and activity she undertakes.
